Music lovers are in for a treat on Saturday, May 18 at 8pm in the Ballina Arts Centre when the Ballina Chamber Choir hosts an evening of excellent choral music. Under the expert baton of choir director Mark Goode, the unique voices of the choir blend together with hauntingly pure harmonies and vocal finesse. The choir delivers songs from all eras with a tenderness that melts away the centuries. They are united by their love of choral music and by a desire to perform it at the highest possible level. Their repertoire is varied and spans the genres of classical, sacred, jazz and blues.

On Saturday, April 20 at 8pm multi-talented, Scottish-born guitarist and singer-songwriter Dick Gaughan will be taking to the stage in the Ballina Arts Centre. Gaughan’s songs are known for the passion and political conviction he puts into them and his music has been recorded by the likes of Billy Bragg, Christy Moore, Mary Black, Roy Bailey, and Capercaillie. Tickets cost from €12 to €15 and booking is essential.

Fresh from their appearance on the Late Late Show last Friday night, Edinburgh based alt-folk stars Southern Tenant Folk Union are returning to Ireland for a nine date tour this month. Their second stop on the tour will be in Ballina at the Ballina Arts Centre, next Friday, February 8 at 8pm.
